At the Barnsley Branch, we had a client named Mr John Shelbourne who wished in his final stages that he returned home to die.
Mr Shelbourne passed away and at his funeral service £300 was raised for the care workers who looked after him in his final stages of his life
After speaking to Maxine Fairhurst I explained the situation of the monies collected for the care workers, who explained that we could not accept this but we would donate this to a charity.
After speaking with the family and knowing that Mr Shelbourne was terminally ill, a decision was made by the family and myself, that all the monies would go to the Barnsley Hospice who play a big part in caring for people with a terminal illness.
I have been to the hospice today and donated the monies that were collected for the carers by family and friends of Mr Shelbourne, I have kept the family involved in all this and the hospice will be sending a letter to them to thank both Lotus Homecare and the family for the contribution, as this makes a difference in the day to day running of the Hospice
