Celebrating Briony Duerden: Halifax Carer and Record-Breaking Powerlifter

6th July 2026

Meet Briony Duerden, a Lotus Home Care carer from Halifax who has achieved 12 British powerlifting records while inspiring others through strength, dedication and resilience.

Celebrating the Personal Success of Our Carer, Briony Duerden

At Lotus Home Care, our carers make a difference every day by supporting people to live safely, comfortably and independently in their own homes. Behind every carer is also a personal story, and today we are proud to celebrate the incredible success of one of our team members, Briony Duerden.

Briony, who is from Halifax, has recently been recognised for her outstanding achievements in elite powerlifting. In just one year since moving into elite competition, Briony has achieved an amazing 12 British records. Her success is a powerful example of dedication, resilience and determination.

A Record-Breaking Powerlifting Journey

Briony’s latest achievement came at the WRPF-UK Viking Strength Showdown, where she competed in the 60kg class. During the competition, she achieved British records in the squat, bench press, deadlift and total categories. She was also named Best Overall Female, marking another proud moment in her sporting journey.

This followed further success at the GPC European Championships, where Briony finished first in the 67.5kg class and achieved a new European Submaster deadlift record of 195.5kg. She had also previously taken first place at the WRPF National Championships and was again awarded Best Overall Female.

Briony’s achievements show what can be accomplished through hard work, focus and passion. Across four powerlifting federations, she now holds 12 British full power and single lift records, with personal bests including a 160kg squat, 96kg bench press and a 200kg raw deadlift.

Strength, Resilience and Inspiration

Briony’s journey is even more inspiring because she has achieved this success while also being a mum of three. Her ability to rebuild, stay focused and continue competing at such a high level is truly remarkable.

Before moving into elite powerlifting, Briony had already achieved success in Strongwoman competitions. Her previous achievements include competing in England’s Strongest Woman, finishing third in the Arnold UK under-73kg category and winning the 2024 World Strength Games in Utah.

Her story is not only about sporting success. It is about commitment, perseverance and believing in what is possible. These are qualities that also reflect the values we see in our carers every day.

Proud to Have Briony as Part of Lotus Home Care

At Lotus Home Care, we are proud to support and celebrate the people who make up our team. Our carers bring compassion, patience and dedication to their roles, but they also bring their own unique strengths, talents and achievements.

Briony’s success is an inspiration to her colleagues, to women in sport, and to anyone working towards a personal goal. She is a fantastic example of what can be achieved with determination and hard work.

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Briony on her incredible achievements. Everyone at Lotus Home Care is extremely proud of you.

Well done, Briony. Your Lotus Home Care family is cheering you on.
