Nine Echo Dots Donated To The Mid Yorkshire Hospital

30th January 2019

The Elderly Care wards at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust are the appreciative recipients of nine Amazon Echo Dots.

The portable, hands free voice-activated devices were purchased through funds raised by our Lotus Home Care – a private home care provider which operates across Yorkshire.

Business Development Manager for Lotus Home Care Darral Taylor learned about the Dementia Patient Trust Fund from Lesley Tatterson, who previously worked closely with the Elderly Care wards as part of The Alzheimer’s Society. Darral was active in organising tombola and raffle stalls at local fairs and galas – raising a total of £453, which Lotus Home Care then matched. Anita Ruckledge, Dementia Lead Nurse at Mid Yorkshire said:

“The Echo Dots will be a very useful way of re-orientating patients who suffer from confusion. They’ll be able to find out the time and date just by asking the voice activator, as well as being able to listen to any music they want and enjoy a personalised and relaxing experience. Thank you very much to Lotus Home Care for taking the time to raise money and donate them, they’ll make a world of difference.”

The Echo Dots will be distributed between Elderly Care wards at Pinderfields and Dewsbury and District Hospital.
